Is your child 'school ready' for their transition to reception class in September?
Guidance from Central Beds to support your child in becoming 'School ready'.

At Kensworth we are passionate about learning through play, we encourage children to explore and experiment in a range of ways to encourage thinking creatively.  All children start pre-school at different stages of their development therefore the practitioners cater for the children's individual needs and plan for each child using the  Early Years  Foundation Stage Framework.  We take children from 3 years of age.

We pride ourselves on the individual care  we offer to families and we have invested in child size furniture to ensure we are all inclusive and that children are given the best opportunities to learn.  Our EYFS Leader is an experienced teacher and works closely with Pre-School (Saplings) and Holly class (year R)  as well as her own Year R class at Totternhoe CE Academy, our sister school.

Being part of Kensworth CE Academy creates a range of exciting opportunities that the children benefit from,  this includes a fabulous spacious outdoor play area,  a sports field and a large playground with climbing apparatus.  The children can also use the school laptops and iPads, the library is teeming with books that the practitioners use to introduce new vocab words and encourage the children's imagination.
The  three and four year olds eat their lunch in the lunch hall with the oldest children, the children independently  choose their lunch and carry their plates themselves, this gives the children a great sense of satisfaction and promotes a 'can do' attitude.

We understand you want the best for your child, so choosing a Pre-School  that is right for you can be a hard decision, therefore we encourage all families to come for a tour and have a informal discussion with the Room leader, Mrs Giddings or the Early Years Leader, Mrs Needham.

We offer a safe, stimulating and caring environment for your child to develop and learn.  Under the supervision of our highly qualified staff, children will be encouraged to learn through play and develop their independence and social skills.

Each day will be carefully planned to involve elements of challenge, imagination and adventure. This will include painting, cooking, music and movement.  Pre-reading, literacy and numeracy will be developed in preparation for full-time education.
There will be continuous assessment of each child's development and behaviour with regular parent consultation afternoons to discuss children's progress.
Kensworth Pre-School is in the  beautiful village of Kensworth and  is very much a part  of the whole school,  whilst still retaining a very special atmosphere all of its own.

    Playing and Exploring - Engagement

  • Finding out and Exploring
  • Playing with what they know
  • Being willing to 'have a go
  • Active Learning  - Motivation
  • Being involved and concentration
  • Keeping trying
  • Enjoying achieving what they set out to do
  • Creating and Thinking Critically
  • Having their own ideas
  • Making links
  • Choosing ways to do things
We carry God’s love in our hearts as we aspire to greatness, achieve our goals and stretch our limitless imaginations. Our Christian values empower us to love learning; are the foundations that shape our school community and create future citizens. Feeling happy and safe, we will progress. ‘For nothing will be impossible with God’ Luke 1:37
